Cross the Little Italian dining room of Da Vito (without letting yourself get distracted by the freshly baked turnovers), open the cold room room and head into the shadows of Moonshiner. In this dreamy speakeasy, Thomas Crand, Charles Aurambault et Alexis Poirson have ticked off all the right boxes: a jazzy background, dim lights, a tin ceiling, steampunk bartenders, and serious cocktails! A fantastic Merci Louie (Mellow Corn whiskey infused with popcorn and caramel, corn syrup, lemon, cream, Abbott biters, €14); a bitter El Classico (12-year-aged Aberlour, Pedros Ximenes sherry, Gran Classico bitters, €14); a springy Oh Sedaine (Beefeater gin, Kummel, celery juice, apple juice, lemon, simple syrup, €10) or an alcohol-free Jake (apple juice, lemon juice, blackberry syrup and tonka beans, €6). And you can smoke a cigarillo in the immense Art Déco fumoir. // A.B.
