Bavaria is cool. The cuckoo clocks, the leather breeches…. A blond fantasy served here on an XXL bar to lovers of strong German drinks. The gin? Jägermeister. The schnapps? Fräulein Brösels. The absinthe? Keller. And the syrup? Pine! In this month of June that was very focused on fussball, the menu took the Euro 2016 into account. Avoiding the Diable Rouge, we ordered a very upstanding Récupérateur: cognac, lemon, St-Germain liqueur, bitters and Mumm. Along with a Deutsch Courage: pear eau de vie, (homemade) apfelstrudel syrup, celery bitters. For all those on a detox, there’s a great alcohol-free Baden Baden 76: Seltzer water, apple juice, lemon, cherry and basil. And to give you strength: currywurst (€8 for a small plate) and Viennese Schnitzel (€15 for a big plate), served on big sections of… pinewood! Cocktails €10, mocktails €7, pints of Rothaus Hefeweizen €6.50. // A.S.
