Bar Blaine in ParisBlaine (Paris) - © Blaine

A Saturday, 3 o’clock in the morning. After providing the password (obtained on Blaine’s Facebook page), head through the black door, go down the metallic staircase and end up in THE speakeasy of the Triangle d’or. A somber boudoir with deer trophies mounted on the walls, a piano, a fumoir, turntables and a bar. Some of the ingredients were unavailable that evening to make the eleven house recipes…. But the bartender in a bowtie did a fine job regardless, with a smooth and fruity American Honeymoon: Jack Daniel’s, homemade earl grey syrup, passion fruit purée, peach juice and Creol bitters, €14. There are no alcohol free cocktails however, but there is the entire range of Alain Milliat fruit juices (€7). Plus pizzas and tartines to tide you over (€8-15). // A.B.
