Right near the Place du Capitole, Fat Cat is THE bar d’auteur in Toulouse. Opened in February of 2015 by two mixomaniacs, Emmy Jeannin and Quentin Pierre-Antoine, this place has everything to grab you by the heartstrings: a cool piano bar ambiance (the instrument is free for all to use), a smart soundtrack, plush velvet armchairs, flattering lights….As for the drinks, in addition to the very long cocktail list, the blackboard has all of the creations of the moment written out on it. Like the Jalisco Revival (Ocho tequila + fresh lime juice + Cointreau + Noilly Prat + a glass rinsed out with absinthe + sweet anise-flavored ice) or the staff’s Thé Glacé (black tea + Hors d’Âge Delord Armagnac + Pedro Ximenez sherry + bergamot liqueur + lemon juice). And for late night hunger pangs: a goat cheese terrine in the fall and homemade popcorn served all year round. Piano bar on Wednesdays starting at 8:30pm and DJ sets once a month. Cocktails €10-12. // C.B.
