Le Blind Pig
Despite its discreet facade and lowered blinds, Le Blind Pig (turquoise benches, a miniature mezzanine, industrial string lights) is full to capacity every night. With a respectable gin selection (27 labels), Thomas the bartender dives into tonics and botanicals to concoct his elixirs (cocktails €10-23), like the Sul (Hamburg gin, hibiscus and cardamon) or the Lab (green chartreuse, olive distilled Catalan gin, rosemary and elderberry). Meanwhile, Maria does her best to curb everyone’s hunger pangs with worldly tapas: beautiful slices of tuna tataki; soft breaded scallops with a sweet and sour yuzu sauce; trufflesaucisson; snail cassolette; good crema catalana …. But keep an eye on things, because the gin – tapas combo has a tendency to gobble up your debit card! Lunch set menu €16 (lentil salad, bœuf bourguignon, creampuffs…), brunch à la carte for around €20, tapas €5.50-13. Reservations recommended. // A.S.
