After midnight, the entrance to Silencio is reserved exclusively for members and “names on the list,” and the door is drawn back for people with an arty-chic look. An occasion for the lucky few to pour into alcoves done up in golden wood, or sink into a retro-futurist couch dreamt up by David Lynch. There’s no menu at the bar (that would be too obvious): describe what you want to the bartender and he’ll concoct a customized cocktail for you. That evening, for €18 a pop: a very fresh Cold Cuban (rum, vanilla syrup, Champagne, a touch of bergamot and peppermint) and a smoking hot Five a Day (smoked vodka, carrot juice, horseradish, wasabi, celery juice, white pepper). No snacks, sorry, but you can dance until dawn with the Parisian in-crowd. // A.B.
