Black Bar du Montana
There’s no point in still mourning the disappearance of Le Gauche Caviar, the pop-up restaurant at the Hôtel Montana, now that we’ve got the Black Bar instead! Inside a monochromatic black cube designed by Vincent Darré and punctuated with framed photographs of bondage behind the bar, the cocktails from Théo (ex-Nightjar in London) are as precious (€25) and unique as the space. Take the Zombie for example (three types of rum, lemon, Maraschino, absinthe, apricot eau-de-vie and homemade grenadine), a spicy and powerful version of a classic tiki cocktail, served with a baba au rhum on the side; or the Expresso Martini (vodka, Kahlua, espresso), a silky nectar paired with a lightly toasted white chocolate bar. There are mocktails (€12) depending on what fresh fruit is available. DJs every weekend and a famous underground club. // A.B.
