At Winesucker, there’s more than just ice cubes to suck on… there are plenty of fabulous nectars, chosen from one of Marseille’s sharpest natural wine selections! Fred Semerdjian, lover of low-intervention regional wines, took over this 15 m2 space on a quiet street in the Notre-Dame-du-Mont neighborhood in order to spread the gospel of good wines to locals and tourists alike, looking for something to quench their thirst. They all come to raise a glass at this tiny spot filled with Formica-topped tables, popping open one of the many vintages from Jean-Yves Péron (Jacquère, Cotillon des Dames, 2019 for €40), the Domaine des Grottes (Gamay, Serre M’Amphore for €29), Lilian Bauchet (another Gamay, L’Herbe Folle at €42 for a magnum)… along with those from the Jura winery Ratapoil, the Alsatian winemaker Jean-Marc Dreyer or the Savoyard producer Corentin Houillon – all without having to pay a corkage fee! One piece of advice? Sent a DM on Instagram or check the wine shop’s account before heading over, because Fred, much like some of his wines, is rather unpredictable! // Gwen Jacquère
The bullet-proof bottle: Métisse, a skin-contact Viognier macerated in Syrah press juices, produced by Patricia and Rémi Bonneton (€26).
