NUMBER OF ROOMS: 3 bedrooms for 2 or 3 people, an apartment for 4 people
CLOSED ANNUALLY: From mid-October 2018 to February 9th, 2019, then from March 11th to April 26th, 2019
THE STORY: In the little village of Dienne, located at the heart of the Parc des Volcans d’Auvergne, the Brit Chris Wright, the former owner of Le Timbre in Paris, has opened up three bedrooms “for hikers,” located right above his restaurant/épicerie (Le Fooding’s Best Village Bistro of 2017). Just like his home-cooking, everything at his B&B is kept ultra-simple and tasteful: bouquets of mimosa, high quality bedding, checkered quilts, and a perfect little bathroom that you share with your neighbors. And the prices are sweet too! €55 a night for two (€18 for the 3rd person) or €55 a night per person with half-board! So, run on over! You can also rent out the gîte, a small apartment that sleeps 4 with a fully equipped kitchen, for €450 a night. Or you can reserve the entire place for 12 people.
TOILETRIES: Coslys olive oil and meadowsweet shower gel and shampoo.
INTERNET: Wifi (free)
BREAKFAST: €8 (included if you get half-board) with coffee and tea, artisanal orange juice, viennoiseries, bread, organic jams, ham, local cheeses (tomme de brebis from Saint Flour, Cantal Entre Deux, bleu de la Margeride, Saint Nectaire).
MINI-BAR: No, but there are two little bottles of sparkling water provided in each room, along with an electric teapot and tea (rooibos, English breakfast).
LITTLE LUXURY: The little épicerie that’s connected to the restaurant, where you can get lots of good organic products before leaving for your hike.
