THE STORY: Running the monumental fortified farm that was passed down to her by her father in 1990, Sophie Véron bends over backwards for her guests. With a big orchard and an enclosed garden for drawing, reading, or playing croquet, the immense beaches of the English Channel nearby, we spend fulfilling, peaceful days here. The rooms (€190 to €270), with their well-waxed hardwood floors and antique furniture, have views of the thickets or the sea. And at night, Sophie brings her A-game (white tablecloth on a big farm table, porcelain dishes, chandeliers) to the dinner, locavore and iodized; scallops, lobster, salt-crusted bass (€59 per people).

TOILETRIES: Like at home, with hydrating La Roche Posay cream, organic shampoo, savon de Marseille soap.
INTERNET: Wifi (free).
BREAKFAST: Included, with Normand specialties like la piquette (faisselle), la teurgouole (caramelized rice pudding), Normand butter (flaky pastry cake), artisanal products (yogurt, fromage blanc with berries, carrot cake, non-pasteurized apple juice, raw milk, sourdough bread and dried fruits, local cheese, honey from the marshland, dulce de leche and homemade jams), hot drinks (various teas and infusions, coffee, hot chocolate), eggs and ham upon request.
LITTLE LUXURY: For your days by the sea, Sophie will loan you the keys to her painted wood cabin on the Gouville beach.
