Baudon de Mauny
NUMBER OF ROOMS: 8 rooms, including 2 suites and 2 junior suites
CLOSED ANNUALLY: From February 6th to February 26th, 2019
THE STORY: This beautiful aristocratic residence from the XVIIIth century, right in the pedestrian center of Montpellier, was transformed into a hotel in 2008. The owners kept the woodwork, the stone floors, the marble fireplaces and the double doors, but they decided to break with its intimidating “historical monument” side and introduce a little modern design to the space. Flashy light fixtures, Cole & Son animal wallpaper, entirely glass Italian showers, giant Marimekko floor pillows, fuzzy stools or pastilles of carpeting bring impertinence and an offbeat touch to the impressively voluminous rooms. Your choice: purified cocoon rooms, two suites that share an equipped kitchen and two XXL bedrooms with “antechambers,” where you can frolic at your leisure under the gypseries (stucco moldings) of the dizzyingly high ceilings. Rooms and suites from €155 and €215.
TOILETRIES: Florame organic shampoo, shower gel, body lotion and conditionner.
INTERNET: Wifi (free).
BREAKFAST: €10, €17 or €20, served in the beautiful silverware under the glass ceiling of the dining room, and depending on the offer selected, with fresh fruit salad, organic yogurts, viennoiseries and freshly baked bread, artisanal jam, hot drinks, cereals, eggs upon request, ham, cheeses from the market.
MINI-BAR: No, but tea, coffee and soft drinks served at check-in, and an honesty bar with a selection of liquors in the salon.
LITTLE LUXURY: Find yourself, after leaving the bedroom, in the center of Montpellier’s cultural scene, because the hotel regularly hosts very chic architectural and design shows and classical concerts.
