THE STORY: As a nod to the town’s mining past, the Hôtel Louvre Lens opened its doors in a former mining village and transformed the small houses into some really snug spots for families. Behind the painted black façades, you’ll discover industrial-Dutch décor with a focus on raw materials (original bricks, blue stones, cement tiles), custom furniture, a charcoal color palette, warm checkered blankets and plenty of soft pillows. In short, a cozy getaway at sweet prices: starting at €125 a night for double rooms, access to the fireplace in the lobby included.

BREAKFAST: The Briquet option includes coffee or tea, miniature viennoiseries, baguette, fresh fruit juice (€8), while the Galibot option has all of that, plus cheese, charcuterie, organic yogurt, compote, cereal, scrambled eggs and mushrooms (€18).
MINI-BAR: No, but every room is equipped with a Nespresso machine and an electric teapot with a selection of Mariages Frères teas.
