THE STORY: In the Lacoume family, ask for Aurélien, the grandson, who is now heading up this family-run hotel that’s been providing shelter for four generations already. Formerly known as Le Palym, back in the good old days when his grandparents Janine and Roger ran things, the space has since been renamed Palmito and contains 17 double rooms, 2 dormitories and an immense family suite. It’s all been fully renovated by the Waaz studio and the Le Vivier agency, for a Hawaiian-Basque look, without losing sight of original welcoming feel: light wood, Moroccan ceramics, organic tones (terra cotta, sea green, eggshell…) and jungle print wallpaper. What’s more, there are some lovely services available, like massages in your room, yoga classes or surfboards to rent, for some fabulous memories! Double rooms starting at €70 a night.
TOILETRIES: Organic EQ soap and shampoo.
INTERNET: Wifi
BREAKFAST: All-you-can-eat buffet for €18, with tuna belly, txistorra (Basque sausage), Bayonne ham, scrambled eggs, sheep’s milk cheese, cow’s milk yogurt, chia seed pudding, pancakes, viennoiseries, granola, cereals, fruits…
LITTLE LUXURY: Lounging around the Palmito suite, which is equipped with a spacious rooftop, for secret moments under the stars.
