THE STORY: After seven years of suspense, Plage Palace – the latest hotel from the Costes brothers – can finally rock its guests to the gentle murmur of waves crashing along the Palavas-les-Flots beach. The concept? A very accessible seaside destination (it’s only 5 km from the new TGV Montpellier-Sud-de-France train station), with 5-star accommodations and direct access to the beach. Designed by the Buttazzoni agency (in collaboration with Imaad Rahmouni and François-Joseph Graf), the building is a suite of white cubes overlooking a spectacular open air pool. Inside, once you’ve passed through the lounge with its ‘80s Memphis feel, you’ll reach the sleek bedrooms all done up in white and beige tones, so as to not cast a shadow on the grande bleue, the uncontested star of the location. Double rooms from €250 to €500 a night (private terraces included).
TOILETRIES: Costes soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion.
INTERNET: Wifi (free).
BREAKFAST: Included, with coffee or tea, bread, viennoiseries and fresh fruit juice (orange, carrot, lemon, grapefruit).
LITTLE LUXURY: The hotel beach with its immaculate parasols, where you can sip a cocktail at sunset, comfortably seated on a white couch.
