If there were a coolinary dating app called Tindiner, we would swipe right on Café Pitot, the latest addition to the Mando family (Les Réformés in Marseille, Le Café de la Panacée in Montpellier..) whose profile ticks off all the boxes for a (good) one-night stand: Persian rugs, colorful banquettes, pop art posters… What is there to eat? Small plates that know exactly what they’re doing: perfectly prepared octopus tucked up against a pepper condiment and crispy diced
chorizo; a seductive vitello tonnato; French toast shamelessly smothered in scallops; teriyaki pork spare ribs; unless you’d prefer stracciatella sprinkled with pomegranate seeds, plated over-roasted sunchokes…. Eat it all while soaking up the sun on the voyeuristic terrace. // Antoine Antoine
FEELING THIRSTY? There’s locally brewed ZooBrew IPA (€6 for 330 ml), classic cocktails with prices that won’t destroy your wallet (€6.50-8), and around forty organic-natural wines: an Aude white from the Domaine Gayda (€3.50 a glass), a Rhone red from Matthieu Barret (€37 a bottle).
PRICE: Small plates €6-17.
