Claude? Jean-Pierre? No, it’s sisters Marie and Sophie, whose last name isn’t even Chabrol, but Marconi. These not-so-nepo-babies have made a reputation for themselves thanks to their invigorating locavore dishes in this sublime bistro with art-nouveau style (decadent arabesques, floral sgraffiti, leafy moldings). Cooked one evening by Marie (ex-God Save the Cream): a seductive buckwheat brioche boasting a runny egg and some warm, curried spring greens (chard and broccoli) and soybeans seasoned with the house spice mix; tender beef shoulder and neck served with new potatoes, yellow and orange carrots, leeks and turnips, bone marrow and ravigote sauce; before a profiterole getting giddy with pear poached in stout and a cuddly chocolate-dulce de leche coulis. After all that, we were feeling quite stuffed! // Sam Oops

FEELING THIRSTY? Food & cider pairings in collaboration with the neighboring cider shop Joran (Pomme Pomme by the Brits from Pilton Cider, €7 a glass), a little bit of mixology (an Orange Blossom cocktail with gin, vermouth, blood orange, €12), beers from the capital (Ermitage, Surréaliste… €5-6 for 330 ml) and even a bit of natural wine, a tad on the pricey side (an Alsace Tout Naturellement from Florian Beck Hartweg, €54 a bottle).
PRICE: Menus €55 and €68.
