Exciting news for the Sentier neighborhood! At this small bistro with attractive prices run by Francis Manzengo (front of house at Tontine, the former restaurant of Le Perchoir), time seems to stand still: inside this neo-old-school spot, you’ll find original tiling, cream-colored walls, red neon lights and a low ceiling (you won’t get any cell service once inside, but the ‘70s Afrobeat playlist makes up for that). The other night, we sat at the bar and watched the bartender combine some lovely ham chiffonade with Comté aged for 16 months, or toss together some plump burrata with diced tomato and citrus, while at the other end of the bar, a plump ham-Cantal sandwich was waiting patiently to be devoured in its wax paper wrapping. In the mornings, you’ll get croissants and homemade jam; at lunch, deviled eggs and roasted Camembert… Who said that nostalgia wasn’t what it used to be? // Albert Gredinbar
