In the race for the best sandwich in Toulouse, you’ll find Midi.37 leading the pack! Who’s donning the maillot jaune? Clara Vucher (a cookbook author and former graphic designer) and Anne Vidal (a former optician), two friends passionate about tantalizing food, who set up this unparalleled spot a stone’s throw from the Capitole de Toulouse. The day we lunched at their beautiful café (multicolored tiling, plants cascading down the wall, bottle green suspension lights), the menu featured delicious bread from Boulangerie Cyprien filled with baked ham, eggs mimosa and fresh dill – or another version that was just as fresh combining sardine rillettes, pickled carrots and cilantro. And since this duo always gives 100%, we paired it with a lovely white bean hummus with sweet onions and fennel sprouts sourced from Persil et Compagnie, along with a striking mix of semolina, zucchini, walnut, apricot and za’atar… before a comforting chocolate mousse topped with shaved peanuts for dessert. // Antoine Antoine
