Panoramic views of the Rhône River, raw pinewood Ikea-esque tables, pale granite floors, metallic deck chairs…. Arty Farty (the company that founded the annual Nuits Sonores electronic music festival in Lyon) has decided to revamp the terrace overlooking the legendary Rhône pool built in 1968 for the Olympic Games. They stay busy from breakfast (tartines, freshly squeezed orange juice, Costadoro coffee) to dinner, with lunch, snacks and aperitifs in between, all enjoyed with electro beats playing in the background. Nonstop fun basically, and all cooked up by Delphine Gabillard (ex-Ducasse) and Pierre Naudion (ex-Palegrié). Take the other day at lunch, for example, with the €19 menu: a runny, curry-infused egg yolk served over spinach purée; roasted ling fillet and sautéed pointed cabbage topped with a passion fruit and fennel sauce; and a gâteau nantais that had literally been dunked in rum! And all these good things get properly washed down, before you take your groove elsewhere: Gamay and Mondeuse from Jean-Christophe Pellerin (€5 and €7 a glass) or a splendid Rhône Renaissance de Viret (€35 a bottle).
