After studying international business in China, Stanislas Denieau set down his chopsticks near the Nouvelle Athènes neighborhood in 2016. His Atelier? It’s a former karaoke bar that’s been made-over into a chic Chinese restaurant, featuring elegant mosaic tile floors, a fresco of a lounging Buddha and photos of old men slurping up bowls of noodles. What’s on the plates? The best of the Sichuan province, for just €15.90 at lunchtime: incredible pork-ginger dumplings in a spiced broth; homemade noodles plunged into the same flavorful soup, with extremely tender stewed beef; before a classic green tea cake. Other options à la carte: a lovely spicy oil and cucumber salad; graceful strips of tofu with carrot and celery, seasoned with sesame oil; ground pork and peanut noodles… // G.LeP.
FEELING THIRSTY? There’s chilled Vedett beer (€3.50 for 250 ml), a few well chosen wines (an organic Pinot noir from the Domaine Musso at €4 a glass) and even Esperanza coffee made using a Marzocco (€2.50).
PRICE: Set menu options from €13.90 to €15.90 (weekday lunch), appetizers €4-6, mains €11-13.
