The Saint-Michel neighborhood is one giant tourist trap, swallowing up wandering souls without leaving them any chance of culinary salvation… until now! Beige appears like a mirage in a sea of pseudo-gyros and fondues. It has a Japanese sentinel vibe (bare stone walls, somber furniture), but local regulars and lucky travelers alike come for the well-made bento box lunch option. The day we went: as a main course, salmon grilled over salt, chicken in miso sauce, breaded shrimp and chicken-vegetable gyoza. For us, it was option number three, with an aromatic miso soup, a few umammmmi potatoes, lotus root mixed with grated purple cabbage, and delicately flavored rice. Before a pair of incredible litchi mochi for dessert! // E.diB.
FEELING THIRSTY? Hojicha and genmaicha teas (€5), various sakes, including a junmai daiginjo Kura no Hana or Born Gold Muroka (€9 a glass).
PRICE: Bento box option €19.
