2015 Adidas Street Food Award
At around 10am, you can expect to see a gentrified crowd hanging around this Goutte d’Or spot – and there’s a good reason why… The all-day breakfasts served in all their splendor at Bob’s Bake Shop (part-self-serve campus cafeteria, part-50s diner with faux-leather benches, melamine wood and an aluminum ceiling) mean you can brunch from early morning through to early afternoon. Written out on the letterboard, order American classics directly at the counter from our American friend Marc Grossman (Bob’s Juice Bar): a quintessential avocado smash on rye bread, smushed into big pieces with a fork; a hearty egg sandwich with cheese and roasted potatoes on a homemade bun; delicious bagels made in-house with cream cheese… Or maybe even the suggestion of the day, like a delicious bagel with hummus and roasted vegetables, vivified by a few pickles. And to satisfy your sweet tooth, there’s an embarrassment of riches: pancakes begging to be drowned in maple syrup, cookies, cheesecakes, brownies, vegan waffles… // F.V. and M.M.
