Chambre Noire

Warning: this establishment was tested before the reign of Covid 19… Certain information may no longer be up to date in regards to the current situation: hours, menu, prices…

Museum-like rows of bottles, bistro tables set with brass, red faux-leather benches and time-worn walls… Welcome to Olivier Lomeli and Rémy Kaneko’s Chambre Noire, a darkroom neo-bistro that’s been lit up by natural wines and dishes that are up to the challenge! That evening: outrenoir squid ink bread served with a perfect mullet taramasalata decorated with crisp radish; marvelous ruby red beetroot carefully slow-roasted and served with a lightly lemony yogurt sprinkled with furikake (a sesame seed and kelp seasoning); generous mullet marinated on the spot with lemon and salt, paired with Granny Smith apple and olive oil; gourmet porcini and chanterelle mushrooms en persillade, served with an egg yolk and wild rice; and an decent pear panna cotta. // V.Z.

FEELING THIRSTY? There’s a beautiful selection of natural wines at controlled prices: a lovely German white from Daniel and Jonas Brand or a Drôme red from Philippe Viret (€6 a glass), a Rhone white from Grégory Guillaume (€31 a bottle), a fruity Ardèche red from Gilles Azzoni (€28)…

PRICE: Plates €4-11.
