On the heels of two Parisian establishments (Clover Grill and Clover Green), Jean-François Piège added another leaf to his Clover empire with the addition of Clover Gordes, high up in this Luberon village. The bistro is decorated like a stately home, with an old credenza, celadon green paneled walls, camel-toned leather chairs and an incredible terrace. Selected the other evening from the pricey menu: a legendary wild calamari carbonara – the famous TV chef’s signature recipe; rosy lamb chops from La Crau, served with excellent matchstick fries – or stuffed vegetables (zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes) that were a little overcooked; before a delicious orange blossom ice cream with a few wild strawberries. Other tantalizing options eyeballed from afar included a puffed pizza, a pistou-braised lobster or an Angus rib-eye steak. // G.LeP.
