You’ll find everything you need at this indispensable bistro/fine food store/bread pick-up/newspaper shop, owned by the Milhac town hall. Start with the no less essential “menu ouvrier” (€14 every day at lunch, Monday through Friday), dolled out by chef Benoît Mouly (ex-Le Queyrou in Nabirat), whose other menu for €16 more is just as impressive…. The day we went for lunch, his €30 menu included: splendid sautéed scallops, cream of pumpkin and chestnuts, forest mushrooms; incredibly tender grilled veal from the Pays Bourian, served with beets, Brussel sprouts, cream of parsnip, a reduction and a green apple condiment; before an irresistible chocolate Cubi’k Alunga flavored with tonka beans. It’s all carefully served by Justine, whether you’re seated inside or on the terrace. As for the drinks: an organic white Bergerac, Les Miaudoux (€4.60 a bottle), a biodynamic Cahors from Jérémie Illouz (€30 a bottle), craft La Rapiette beer (€4.30 for 330 ml), etc. Set lunch menu €14. From Friday night to Sunday at lunch, menus €27-30 (every night during the summer). Kids €7-13. // P.L.
