El Taco del Diablo
After a few years in L.A., Californianized couple Phil’ and Virigine had an incredible idea: to do up an old Tabasco-red Kombi VW van and deal out criminally good tacos and other insider treats. Scribbled out on the blackboard menu: guacamole that spices up your palate and caresses your tongue (€6); Cadillac-sized quesadillas with flour tortillas that are less bling bling, a torrent of melted cheese, grilled chicken (or chorizo), tomatoes, onions, cilantro and lime (€9); hearty burritos that are as golden as Sunset Boulevard, filled with saffron rice, greens and spicy stewed pork (€9); or even a raspberry cheesecake that’s as fluffy as a lone cloud in a blue sky (€3). And to drink? The house lemon-cilantro-corn El Taco Bear beer (€4.50 for 330 ml) or Anchor beer (€5.50), and So Kombucha ginger soda (€3.50). Finally, if you miss the Combi food truck, don’t panic, they serve all the same mouthwatering goods in their brick and mortar shop! // M.J.-D.
