Ground Control des Champs
The anarchist chef of L’Ami Jean has landed on the Champs-Élysées! It’s true, the punk rock Stéphane Jégo has monopolized 500 m2 at the back of the Galerie 26, along with his friends from Ground Control. He’s taken up residency alongside a coffee shop, a boutique and an art gallery, in a technicolor space equipped with only an induction hotplate and an oven. What should you expect? Explosive flavors! The day we went for lunch: “mama Philomène’s vegetable soup,” an absolutely incredible combo of onions + Parmesan + seed crisps (€8); fresh cod with root vegetables (€14); a punchy petit salé with lentils (€12); not to mention the incredible rice pudding from the mother ship on rue Malar (€7). Plus, all day they serve: incredible homemade terrine and fine charcuterie from Aitana (€11 a platter); aged cheeses (€8 a plate); and not forgetting the rather beautiful selection of fine foods (jams, vinegars…) sold to go. To drink, there’s an organic red (€5 a glass), Gallia IPA (€6) and Breizh Cola (€4). Set menu €18, appetizer €8-11, dishes €8-15, desserts €5-8. // J.G.
