Much to the delight of the people of Nice, Thierry Costes, Emmanuel Delavenne and André Saraiva (the dream team behind the Hôtel Amour and Le Grand Amour) have set down their suitcases along the Mediterranean right near the legendary Negresco. Ahead of the opening of a new Hôtel Amour inside the former Hi Hôtel, there’s Amour à la Plage, with its beach deckchairs, incredibly cool lounge and restaurant space. Come work on your tan, beachside, while fishing through the menu: a gigantic bowl of raw veggies with anchoiade; briny and delicious sea urchin tarama salata; a lovely bunch of radishes with salted butter; palourde clam marinière with cilantro and lemon; a refreshing salad of peas, pomegranate, feta and mint; beautiful grilled sardines with fleur de sel, thyme and arugula; a nice lamb burger; grilled organic wolfish fillet with a fennel and sea bean salad; plus a lemon tart or chocolate cake for dessert. // L.S.
