After kilometers of winding roads and breathtaking views of the mountains and the sea, you’ll reach Arone Beach. Home to this seaside restaurant with plenty of tricks up its sleeve, it’s the ideal spot for enjoying a snack with views of the Mediterranean, your feet in the sand! What should you expect? A fish tank full of shellfish from the bay, plus goat from Piana, and the catch of the day – capon and forkbeard, the day we went. And best of all, a giant wood-fired grill where giant langoustines and/or some fat Charolais steaks are cooking – all served with the sides of your choice: mashed potatoes, ratatouille, salad… Otherwise, for something not cooked on the BBQ, expect things like Thai-spiced grouper ceviche that lacked a little contrast, linguine alle vongole that was cream-based, unfortunately, or even a Casetta pizza topped with chorizo, baked ham, peppers, an egg and olives. For all those with a sweet tooth, there’s an apple crisp made on a speculoos shortbread crust with an apple/salted caramel dumpling. // G.LeP.

FEELING THIRSTY? There are about 30 Corsican options to choose from, including a few gems: a white, red and rosé Oriu from the Domaine De Torraccia(€8 a glass), a Clos d’Alzeto white (€39 a bottle), a red Grotte di Sole from Jean-Baptiste Arena (€42)…
