Big colorful floor pillow poufs, Oriental rugs, copper tableware, calligraphy on the walls… This café tucked away inside the former Egyptian Cultural Center has more than a few tricks up its sleeve! At either lunch or dinner, come savor a whole suite of mezze (hummus, baba ganoush, spicy beef sausage…); two dishes of the day – eg.:shrimp méchoui, sautéed veal…; or even a few sandwiches, including a Bastarma made with smoked beef, feta, peas and turnips, an absolutely fantastic combination! But don’t get it twisted: the all-you-can-eat Sunday brunch (just 18 bucks!) is hands down the best option, featuring falafel, Egyptial foul (broad beans in sauce), feetir, baklawa, Egyptian flan… One piece of advice? Make sure to reserve! Otherwise, grab a Middle Eastern snack at Balady, the owner’s bakery across the street. // G.LeP.
FEELING THIRSTY? Homemade lemonade (a little too sweet), hibiscus or melon juice, rose syrup water… (€2.50).
PRICE: Mezzes €3-7, sandwiches €6, dishes of the day €17, brunch €18 (Sunday).
