At the end of a small street in Perpète-la-Galette, you’ll find La Savie, an 18th-century farmhouse redone with style – old rafters, industrial lamps, solid wood tables… That’s where Belgian chef and former graphic designer Fred Marchant stitches together his impressive plates, which you can savor on the big stone terrace or inside the inn. For us, the night we went: heirloom tomato and burrata salad (€12); slow-cooked duck breast in a ginger-star anise broth (€17); before an almond shortbread crust topped with strawberries, refreshed by a melon sorbet (€7). And to wash it all down, the drink selection presented by Léa Lignac has a lot of organic and local choices: Bergerac in all three colors from L’Ancienne Cure (€2.70 a glass), a Bergerac white from the Château Cluzeau (€25 a bottle) or a red from the Domaine de la Voie Blanche in the Périgord Noir (€26.50), not to mention the plum eau-de-vie from the Distillerie Louis Roque in Souillac (€6 for 40 ml)… À la carte €32-42. // A.Be.
