Les Enfants Terribles
After your descent down the slopes, climb up to the mezzanine at Les Enfants Terribles, located in the one and only Hôtel d’Avoriaz that’s been given a ‘60s makeover by the Sibuet family. On the menu: creamy pumpkin soup with Beaufort whipped cream; John Dory aiguillettes, celery mousseline and a red Mondeuse reduction, that you happily scoop up with a spoon; fera, glazed root vegetables and a Viognier sauce; classic steak au poivre; and, for the sweets, a gigantic chilled mont-blanc. To drink, choose between the Luberon vintage produced by the owners, Domaine de Marie N° 1, 2003 (€85 a bottle), the very chic Dom Pé 1998 (€345), or the very Savoyard Jacquet (€7.50 a glass). À la carte €55-91. // A.S.
