A very French name, a very New York look (dark wood, Corten steel, waxed concrete) and shelves stuffed full of English goodies. Perched atop the Montmartre hill, Olivier Rebbot’s Marcel is both chic and cool. No matter what time of day, come for a fix of pancakes, French toast, eggs Benedict, sandwiches from here or elsewhere (club sandwiches, hot dogs, bagels…), Instagrammable salads (kale Caesar, superfood) and other Anglo-Saxon treats – BBQ ribs, fish & chips, pulled pork burgers, etc. For us, the day we went: classic avocado toast (focaccia, avocado, cream cheese and orange slices, €8), tasty veal milanese with homemade fries that were a little disappointing (€18), and an incredible key lime pie for dessert (€9)! To drink, there are reinvigorating and photogenic drinks: matcha lattes (€5.50), fresh coconut water (€7), strong iced tea (€5), the house Bergerac (€5 a glass) or Moscow Mules (€10). The Sunday brunch is also very popular (count on spending around €25). À la carte €32-43. // E.S.
