Non Solo Cucine is Palermo in Paris! In this perfectly styled trattoria (tomato red chairs, a seafood bar along the wall, potted basil on the tables), the Sicilian-born Giuseppe Messina (Non Solo Pizze, Pane e Olio) tells sunny stories about “nonna,” “amore,” and ingredients from his home country. Served à la carte the night we went: tender octopus awakened by a chickpea purée, slow-roasted onions and radicchio; emblematic Sardinian pasta with fresh sardines, raisins, pine nuts, pink garlic and wild fennel under an irresistible gremolata; mouthwatering mafaldine with porcini mushrooms and a generous showering of grated truffle; before a zucchini tart that was as sweet as a bacio for the lovely dessert. At lunch, consult the blackboard menu, which might include fritto misto; tonno rosso e porcini (bluefin tuna and porcini mushrooms); lambatello con broccoli e affumicata (steak, broccoli and smoked mozzarella)… // C.C.

FEELING THIRSTY? The beautiful Sicilian wine collection: a dry and fruity white from Planeta, a red Cerasuolo-di-Vittoria Cos (€10 a glass), a Fiano white Cometa de Planeta (€88 a bottle), a Nero-d’Avola red Harmonium from Firriato (€80).

PRICE: Menus €26-31 (lunch), à la carte €60-78.
