Quilles et Papilles
With its country home feel (checkerboard tile floors, mismatched tables painted white, velvet crapaud armchairs, 50s tableware), this house with blue shutters is a playground for Béatrice (in the dining room) and her daughter Sophie (in the kitchen). The other day, on the simple set menu for 15 bucks (a glass of Côtes-de-Castillon from the Château Brandeau included!), the plates were truly heartwarming: beef salad with Asian touches via cilantro, soy and radish; roasted beef and vegetables in a wine sauce; and a spirited lemon tart. As for the bottles, they’re quite natural: Rock n’Saule, a Bergerac from the Domaine des Trois Saules (€15 a bottle) or Pèlroge, a Périgord red from the Domaine de l’Astré (€18.50). Set menu €15 (with coffee or a glass of wine), pizza €9-12 (Friday night). // A.Be.
