Rice & Fish / Yaki
This colorful izakaya is like a two-headed Godzilla, spitting fire at two locations on the same street. Head to 16 rue Greneta for the California-style sushi bar: light vegetable tempura (€6), crispy crab salad (€16), classic salmon/avocado chirashi (€18), delightful temaki with spicy octopus, cucumber and avocado (€4), etc. And for a more traditional restaurant, go to Yaki at 22 rue Greneta. The day we went for lunch, there was a feast of sautéed noodles (from €12.50 to €13), along with rice bowls topped with katsu chicken (€13) or Hawaiian suckling pig (€14.50). And don’t forget about the plancha-grilled salmon with teriyaki sauce (€13.50), and the delicious little iced sesame mochi (€4.50). To drink, there’s barley shochu lichiko (€5 for 60 ml) or all the expected beers (Asahi, Kirin and Sapporo, €5 for 330 ml). Sushi from €3.50 to €5 for two, maki from €5.50 to €10 for six, sashimi from €16.50 to €24, set menus €12-15 (Rice & Fish). À la carte €19.50 to €29.50 (Yaki). // S.L.
