Why are so many foodistas rushing over to Dinan’s so-called “booze alley”? For the brand new eatery brought to you by the talented, tattooed pastry chef extraordinaire, Laurent Favre-Mot! After winning over both Marseille and Paris with his “Catin” tart, he’s starting a new life here, setting his Mediterranean roots firmly in Breton soils. Moreover, his new spot has such a Levantine soul (white and almond green walls, zellige tiles, wicker chairs…) that you’d be forgiven for thinking you’ve stepped into a Tel Aviv coffee shop. Come lunchtime, nibble on delicious goodies like the incredible hummus; a roasted cauliflower that’s worthy of Eyal Shani; impressive falafel; a delicious pastrami, red cabbage and pickle sandwich made on soft homemade bread; a punk tabbouleh with freekeh; a tender slow-roasted lamb shoulder with subtle spices and warm hummus; before an outstanding lemon and poppy seed cake paired with a creamy chocolate pudding with olive oil and fleur de sel – or a delicious orange blossom crème brûlée. // S.L.

Drinks that are absolutely dripping with sunshine: homemade rose syrup water (€2), gazoz (sparkling water infused with herbs and fruit, €5), Israeli Maccabee beer (€4), excellent mint tea (€3) and natural wines served by the glass (€4): Vieille Mule, a Catalan red from Jeff Carrel; Le Grand Blanc, a Provence from Henri Milan; Petit Ours Blanc, a Côtes-du-Rhône from Mathieu Barret…
