On rue des Fabriques-Nadal, Yannick Ferez (ex-Percherons in Céret) is lighting up Perpi City with two outstanding spots: his intimate restaurant Sagí and his sandwich shop Looping. In the former (brick walls, vintage furniture, natural wines hanging from butcher’s hooks along the wall), expect beautiful small plates: a classic Sexy Bikini – brioche stuffed with slow-roasted pork loin, melted manchego and fresh herb mayonnaise, plus patatas bravas on the side; paleta de cebo (Iberian pork shoulder) that practically melts in your mouth; sublime smoked sardines swimming around in green tomato water; comforting mussels plunged into a rabbit broth; firm octopus with a thick green pesto; before a comforting apricot compote with mascarpone on the side. And at the latter, located right down the street, wolf down a sandwich while seated at a small, shady table: the excellent Cubano sandwich made with roast beef, jalapeño and melted cheese; a soft hot dog bun filled with hake rillettes and pickled red onions; and incredible potato and dill salad… // G.V.
FEELING THIRSTY? Natural wines are back in style, baby: a house red (€4.50 a glass), a Laurent Roger blend (€26 a bottle), a pet’ nat’ from Gilles Trouillet (€30)… Along with vermouth de la casa, topped off with a little sparkling water (€3.50 a glass).
PRICE: Small plates €4-15 (Sagí), sandwiches €4-10 (Looping).
