Here’s the latest find from Romain Billard and Jérôme Bru (who also run B2K6 in Lempdes), tucked away in the historic center of Clermont-Ferrand. The pitch? A neo-bistro with a Scandinavian feel (immaculate walls and chairs, light wood tables, a windowed wine collection) and French cuisine. The day we lunched for €19, we felt like we were in the South of France: a stunning pizzetta topped with sardines, capers, shaved Parmesan, mustard shoots, arugula and wasabi; impeccable zucchini, semolina, Parmesan, taggiasche olives, fennel and Madras curry crumble; before a red plum pie with a pain d’épices ice cream. At night, the house switches over to tapas mode: suckling veal tartare tacos (€12); prawns with mint (€14), charcuterie platters (€18)… Tame it all with Bistrologie, a white Aude from Jeff Carrel (€6 a glass); a stunning Fronton red from the Château La Colombière (€24 a bottle); a fruity Minervois from Laguzelle (€30); or Toison d’Or, a Reuilly white from the Domaine Les Poëte (€49). Set menus €14.50 to €19, smørrebrød €4-6 (lunch), menus €33-46-55, tapas €10-18 (dinner). // P.L.
