Every summer, vagabond chef Thomas Geneaux sets up camp on the Plage du Dossen for two months. What should you expect? Music gigs, vintage clothing pop-ups, yoga sessions, pétanque tournaments…. and a food truck whose adventurous fare will have everyone in good spirits, from the portly bathers to the ravenous surfer. The night we went, it was all about Thai food: a cheeky fried rice with grilled beef, shaved vegetables and golden peanuts; generous rice noodles in an oxtail broth infused with galangal and lemongrass, a cross between a pho soup and a pot-au-feu; before a refreshing strawberry and ginger dessert. Other options include curries, smoked meats, tajines, organic crepes and free-range beef burgers. // M.R.
