Ceci n’est pas un restaurant, it’s actually the dining room of Magalie Boutemy, the sole owner of this unfussy, little canteen (a big sideboard, a communal table, vintage interiors) that’s been a mainstay in the Châtelain neighborhood since 2001. There’s no one taking orders, as Magalie cooks away at her own pace in the cute kitchen, before sending out the goods once her guests are well settled. That day at lunch: an ultra-fragrant sorghum and vegetable curry, with a mix of asparagus, tofu, sweet potato and sesame; and a citrus fondant cake topped with a grain crumble, served fresh out of the oven – we witnessed it with our very own eyes! Meat-lovers and chocoholics, panic not: one of these days you could well come across the innkeeper’s mythical meatloaf, followed by a small chocolate pot. // Jessica Fletcher
