THE STORY: If you’re trying to find Eva Maria Bogaert’s house, locals will likely direct you to… the pool! Since 2014, the fashion designer has called Varsenare home, and she tasked architects Mo Vandenberghe and Thomas Hick of MOTO Studio with creating her dream sanctuary-slash-studio between the beaches of Ostend and the Bruges forest. The result? A house inspired by 1950s California, with a facade entirely tiled in cheerful color (yellow up top, gray below), which is home to her showroom and now two spacious 160 m2 guest houses oozing cozy, arty vibes. On one side, there’s Eva, dressed in yellow and green, bathed in light all year round. And on the other, there’s Maria, all draped in blue. Each house has a generous ground-floor living room opening on to the garden, and an upper floor with three bedrooms (one double, two twins, one single). Every corner is furnished with personal touches, from homemade ceramics, recycled furniture, trinkets from Eva Maria’s travels to Berlin and India, as well as second-hand finds. It’s the perfect springboard for families or artists seeking a peaceful retreat. House from €500 (two-night minimum). · Léa Ranchini
