There’s something groovy going down on the Left Bank! Since opening in October 2021, cool club Pamela has put Saint-Germain-des-Prés back on the Parisian party map. At twilight, in-the-know sly foxes slink down into the depths of Rue Mazarine, entering this vast cellar with brothel-inspired alcoves (red velvet, black curtains, seventies-style poufs) where legend has it that Jim Morrison once crooned. On the Plexiglass menus, you’ll find five original takes on mixology (€15 each), served with jazzy tunes playing in the background, including: a spicy Ginicina made with gin, ginger liqueur, ginger beer and apple juice; a sprightly Shelter combining whiskey, cherry liqueur, Bénédictine, blood orange, lemon and hazelnut bitters. When midnight strikes, the space fills up with night owls ready to dance to house music by Joe Lewandowski… It’s a real menagerie of sorts! // Paul Hackett
