An industrial aesthetic, neon ceiling lights, the very Brooklyn-circa-2012 combo of exposed stone and red brick walls… No, this is not an old Tumblr page brought back to life, it’s Motors Coffee, the creation of a duo who used to work in the fashion industry, Thomas Philips and Lola D’Harcourt, located between Les Halles and Rivoli. What do they serve? A drink menu (espresso, flat white, latte…) fueled by specialty coffee (Friedhats, Coffee Collective, Rose Coffee Roasters) and an excellent selection of head-turning drip coffees, like the Colombian beans from the Finca El Plan processed by the New York roasters Sev. Pair it all with a well-made cardamom roll or a decadent banana bread with nocciolata. // Carla Fouti
THE HIDDEN GEM: The Basque cheesecake (€6), which goes perfectly with a cold brew, so you can counter its sweetness with a good kick of acidity.
