As the fourth restaurant from Top Chef France judge Jean-François Piège, Clover Grill rotisserie sure has a private club/fine dining vibe to it. On the menu, chic but cool décor (leather benches, marble tables, a mahogany bar, Portuguese azujelos) and outstanding meats from the famous Metzger butcher’s shop: an impeccable prime Angus flank steak from Kansas; respectable Noire de Baltique strip loin steaks with plenty of character and deliciously aged over beech; or even a sublime prime rib (from €45 to €71 a person, depending on its origin) for polygamists. All that, served with perfect homemade sauces, tasty fries or a delicate potato mousseline. What’s more, they serve one of the best burgers in Paris, with its mix of Salers, prime Angus and Noire de Baltique ground beef. A pro tip: make sure to save some room for the addictive churros with dark chocolate dipping sauce and vanilla ice cream! // C.C.
FEELING THIRSTY? There’s a bible-length menu with very good wines served by the glass – a lovely fruity yet smoky Saumur-Champigny, Les Roches 2017 (€10 a glass) or a more tannic Saint Joseph 2016 from Christophe Pichon (€15 a glass) – which reaches even greater heights with exceptional bottles like the Haut Brion Pessac Leognan 2001 (€1,421 a bottle).
PRICE: Menu €74, à la carte €48-154.
