THE STORY: Spearheaded by Maïté, herself a local, the Buron de Cap Combattut, a family property located on the highlands of the Aubrac, has been transformed into a particularly cozy mountain gite. Very remote, this old shepherd refuge now welcomes lovers of the slow life, hiking and botany (the flora here is incredible!), in two bedrooms with barebones décor (wood, stones, washed linen sheets…). Starting at €95 a night for two, breakfast included. And new for 2016: the mini-gite for two, right next to the buron (starting at €145 a night, breakfast included).
TOILETRIES: Durance shower gel, shampoo, body lotion and soap.
INTERNET: Free (wifi).
BREAKFAST: Included, with fouace (a brioche cake), homemade jams, fruit juices, coupétade (a traditional dessert made with stale bread and prunes), homemade yogurt made with milk from the Aubrac, charcuterie from the farm, local cheeses, baked apples, seasonal fruit compotes.
MINI-BAR: No, but a courtesy platter where you can prepare hot drinks is provided in the bedrooms, and there’s a shared kitchen on the ground floor.
LITTLE LUXURY: Leaving with Aubrac beef from cattle raised by Maïté.
