In a town where convention is king, Armand Kleve provides a naturalist oasis to passerby in Rodez. The cultivated man who used to be behind Station A, who also works as a part-time local winemaker, got his hands on a former clothing shop and turned it into a low-intervention wine haven, where he attempts to inspire curiosity in his guests by promoting wines rather than labels. Sip a selection of beautiful bottles in house (for a €10 corkage fee in addition to the bottle price) or take them to go, including the honorable L’Aimé Chai, a Duras from the Domaine Mouthe le Bihan, sold at affordable prices (€9 a bottle), or Entre Les Eaux, a majestic Aveyron chenin-aligoté produced by Nicolas Carmarans (€23), along with wines from further away – like a savagnin ouillé by Fumey Chatelain (€28) or Je Suis De Marne, an aromatic Alsatian white blend by Kumpf & Meyer (€29). And if you’re feeling a little bit peckish, there are oysters from Bouzigues (€20 for a dozen, with two glasses of wine), farm-fresh cheeses and artisanal charcuterie (€7-18). FYI: the owner regularly organizes events and tasting nights. // Aya Bouriole
