THE STORY: A second hotel for Place Voltaire! After the judiciously named Hôtel Voltaire, Hôtel Présent has taken up residency on this picturesque little square in Arles, surrounded by plane trees and terraces. In a building from the 1950s designed by architect Pierre Vago, its sunny yellow tiled balconies set the tone: here, you can laze about, eat a good meal and enjoy some art. Looking for somewhere to drop off your luggage and your worries? There are thirteen bedrooms punctuated with vintage pieces from the 1940s to modern times – from the “double classique” room to the “supérieure” room with its private balcony, there’s something for every taste. The cherry on top is undoubtedly the Piscine on the rooftop: not a pool, but a cocktail and wine bar for a relaxing pause… And if you’re hungry, try the plates made by Finish chef Maud Saddok, who will soon hand over the kitchen to other chefs in residency. Double rooms starting at €70 a night.
TOILETRIES: Natural lemon-olive soap and shampoo.
BREAKFAST: €13.50 for the buffet that you can savor on the terrace, which includes coffee or tea, Pressoirs de Provence fruit juices, freshly baked bread, viennoiseries, yogurt, cheeses and charcuterie from small producers, homemade cookies and cakes…
LITTLE LUXURY: Dig into the miniature wine collection housed within each bedroom, carefully curated by the Marseille wine shop Ivresse.
