Accustomed to Michelin-starred nectars at L’Oustau de Baumanière, Damien Sieuzac left the world of fine dining behind to open up an organic-wine focused cave in the village of Rognonas, not far from Avignon. There’s plenty to eyeball on the red brick shelves, including a sharp selection of hard-to-find regional producers (Philippe Badea in the Drôme, Julie Karsten in the Gard), rising stars (Thomas Pico in Chablis, Matthieu Barret in Cornas) and gems of all kinds: Cosette, a Cairanne from Le Clos des Mourres (€20), Clair Obscur Champagne from the Cordeuil (€32)… And to take the festivities up a notch, there are also a few craft spirits: apricot-rosemary eau-de-vie from La Distillerie Spiral (€89 for 500 ml), Ferroni rum (€40 for 500 ml)… Take them to go along with some La Perle des Dieux sardines or Toupine et Cabesselle chickpea dip. // Gwen Jacquère
The bullet-proof bottle: Les Beaux Plaisirs (€17), a multi-varietal blend from Bastien Boutareaud, who runs La Ferme Viticole in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.
