Two is always better than one! Mico + Jon form a magic duo inside this neo-bistro hiding down a covered passageway. On one side of the space, chef Jonathan Leung, an architecture student in a former life, mixes and matches eastern influences and western cuisines; on the other, his wife Mico Cheung prepares the sweets (don’t miss her matcha pudding cream puffs!) and handles front-of-house, where her presence fills the space with a soulful atmosphere – otherwise decorated with sober furniture, birch wood, mismatched tiling and bare bricks… On their “progressive Asian food” menu: mouthwatering beetroot dumplings stuffed with pork; shallot pancakes topped with melted cheddar and shiitake mushrooms; scallops from Zeeland cooked in gochujang (Korean chili paste); before a rather disappointing Blanc Bleu Belge beef tagliata, luckily made up for by the dessert course, a light and airy castella (Japanese egg cake). // Bobbi Rossi

FEELING THIRSTY? Low intervention wines! A skin-contact Corbières white produced by Michel Alban at the Domaine Les Sabots d’Hélène (€7 a glass, €36 a bottle), Una Volta, a raw natural Catalan from Rosell Mir (€6.50 a glass, €30 a bottle)… along with sakes, iced tea prepared by Mico (€4) or Betty B beer made with Japanese hops (€4.50).
PRICE: Menus €60, plates €14.50 to €18 (small), €16-18 (medium), €26-32 (big), desserts €10.50.
